‘How does an agent market a home that has a stripper pole?’

Editor’s note: Below is a recap of this week’s #madREskillz, a weekly Twitter contest where real estate professionals and companies tweet offbeat marketing tactics using the hashtag #madREskillz. After reviewing entries and retweeting many in the process, we put two finalists to a vote on Facebook and then write a profile on the winner.

“How does an agent market a home that has a stripper pole,” pondered Estately’s Ryan Nickum in a tweet that showcased a home with that very amenity.

Some might expect such an inquiry to quickly sink to the bottom of Twitter’s sea of forgotten microblog posts and languish there for eternity.

But in a gratifying demonstration of #madREskillz cross-pollination, Rachael Hite fired off a compelling answer.

“Market it as a ‘fitness’ pole instead. These things are gaining popularity,” she tweeted.

In addition to inspiring reflections on a dubious property feature, the latest #madREskillz also yielded three creative open-house concepts: a barbecue with pontoon rides, waterfront soiree and $1,000 raffle.

Meanwhile, Perca Real Estate shared a meticulous approach to creating finely tuned listings, and Katie Clancy served up some wisdom on how to cope with high-strung clients.
