Brokerages, rental sites vie with big 4 real estate portals for audience share

The big four real estate portals — Zillow, Trulia, realtor.com and Yahoo Homes — continue to dominate the real estate category, accounting for more than 1 in 3 visits in September, according to data from Web analytics company Experian Marketing Services.

But scrappy brokerages like Redfin and ZipRealty continue to mix it up with rental sites for the traffic that’s left, a list of top 20 real estate portals compiled by Experian shows.

Also noteworthy:

  • Century 21 and Re/Max are the only franchisors with websites in the top 20.
  • A public-facing website operated by the Houston Association of Realtors, HAR.com, is on the list.
  • Referal site Connectwithlife.com debuted on the list in August.
