Realtor.com Social Media Director Audie Chamberlain is set to become vice president of marketing for Los Angeles-based brokerage Partners Trust Brokerage and Acquisitions on Monday. His last official day at realtor.com is Friday.

Chamberlain’s exit comes on the heels of the defection of two key execs from realtor.com operator Move Inc. to rival Zillow.

Chamberlain, who joined realtor.com in 2008 and ran the portal’s social media strategy, says his departure has nothing to do with the surprise resignations of former Move Chief Strategy Officer and realtor.com President Errol Samuelson on March 5 and the executive who was promoted to replace him, former Move Vice President of Industry Relations Curt Beardsley, on March 17.

Instead, Chamberlain said, the opportunity to become vice president of marketing for the 130-agent L.A. brokerage represents a major step toward his goal of becoming a chief marketing officer and the chance to “dig deeper in the trenches of real estate.”

Chamberlain will oversee all marketing, branding, communications, content and advertising for Partners Trust.

“This is a natural progression for my career,” Chamberlain told Inman News. “It’s a huge opportunity for me.”

A connection he made with Partners Trust President Nick Segal as a board member of L.A. Family Housing — an organization dedicated to alleviating homelessness in the L.A. area — led to an offer Chamberlain says he couldn’t refuse.

“I wasn’t looking for a new job,” Chamberlain said of the organic process that led to his new position.
