Industry heavyweight Russ Bergeron has resigned as CEO and president of multiple listing service Midwest Real Estate Data LLC, which serves close to 40,000 members in the Chicago area.

At this time, it is unclear what Bergeron’s next step will be. Bergeron, who joined MRED in May 2010, told Inman News that his resignation was effective immediately, saying, “My work here is done.”

“I could not be prouder of all that was accomplished during my four years here,” Bergeron said in an email to Inman News. “During my tenure, MRED was brought to the national stage. Our customers reaped the benefits of multiple new product offerings and technology enhancements. Our help desk was honored as Top 25 in the nation four years in a row. In 2013, MRED was named by Inman as the Most Innovative MLS or Association in the nation. We were a finalist for 2012 and also, we just learned, for 2014.”

Bergeron said he and his wife, Janet, look forward to returning to their home in Southern California “where the winters will undoubtedly be much kinder.” Bergeron served for 17 years as CEO of Southern California MLS before joining MRED.

He declined to comment further. MRED declined to comment for this story.
