Online real estate marketplace Auction.com has brought on LinkedIn Senior Vice President Deep Nishar as an adviser to provide expertise to the company, and also to allow the company to drop names like Google, TripAdvisor, Facebook and Groupon in a press release.

Deep Nishar

Nishar, who previously served as senior director of products at Google, leads overall product strategy and user experience at LinkedIn, where his efforts have helped the professional network attract more than 300 million users and grow its revenue from under $80 million in 2008 to $1.5 billion in 2013, Auction.com said.

Nishar also serves as a board member for TripAdvisor and Opower, a firm that helps utility companies reduce energy consumption, and is an investor in Silicon Valley startups including Spool (which was acquired by Facebook in 2012), Adku (acquired by Groupon in 2012) and Aardvark (acquired by Google in 2010).

In a statement, Nishar said that translating the benefits of the Auction.com marketplace to a “wider population” and providing its users with the “freedom to confidently transact real estate with ease from wherever they are can only help Auction.com position itself as a leader of this segment for years to come.”

Auction.com, which employs more than 900, raised $50 million from Google’s equity fund, Google Capital, in March.
