Century 21 marketing guru Bev Thorne moves on

Bev Thorne, the mastermind behind Century 21 Real Estate’s multidimensional ad blitz and one of real estate’s most influential leaders, is no longer the Realogy brand’s chief marketing officer.

Mike Callaghan, Century 21’s vice president of digital and strategic marketing, confirmed that Thorne and the firm parted ways on Friday, but would not provide more details. “Our company policy is that we don’t comment on personnel decisions,” he said.

In her seven years as chief marketing officer at Century 21, Thorne led the brand’s marketing, from Super Bowl TV ads and sponsorship of the Olympic U.S. bobsled and soccer teams to innovative and varied social media marketing campaigns.

Before taking over Century 21’s top marketing position in 2007, Thorne served for five years as a vice president of customer marketing at banking firm JPMorgan Chase, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Thorne’s departure marks the second high-profile marketing chief change-up in as many days. Yesterday, news broke that Move Inc.’s chief marketing officer, Barbara O’Connor, is set to vacate her position for family reasons at the end of the month.

Thorne, who could not be reached by press time for comment, is apparently not O’Connor’s successor at Move. The firm still has no plans to fill the position, Move spokeswoman Christie Wilfley told Inman News.

“We’re speculating over here, too” about what Thorne’s next move will be, Wilfley said.
