Which social channels do you work the most?

Right now, Facebook and Twitter. I’m getting more into Instagram, too.

How many friends, likes, etc., do you have?

On Facebook, I have more than 2,200 friends and more than 1,500 followers.

Does that number matter to you?

No.

Do you ever give it a break?

Yes. Downtime is critical to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Does social help your business, how?

Yes. From a business-to-business perspective, it allows us to stay on the cutting edge of technology and trends, which helps with referral business. From a business-to-consumer perspective, it helps us stay top of mind and generate search traffic.

What’s your strategy to achieve your goals for your favorite social channel?

We have a marketing plan that includes immediate ROI (return on investment) from Facebook advertising and a long-term plan that includes Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

Is it worth it?

Yes. We continue to see positive ROI from both agent referrals as well as Facebook advertising.

What’s your craziest social media-related story?

Getting to meet and talk shop with Gary Vaynerchuk in 2014.

What actions do you take that have gotten the most results?

We get the most results from Facebook advertising, without question.

Is this more about “social” or about business?

Business.

How do you monitor the channels? Do you use software or apps to manage your account, and which ones?

I have alerts on the iPhone; nothing more. I like to keep it simple.

How many hours per day are you on social? Do you check it daily? Multiple times per day?

Two hours per day, and it’s checked multiple times per day. I have that luxury since I don’t work with clients.

Do you ever think of retiring?

Of course. My wife and I have a 10-year business plan, and we’re in year three. Right on track.

Do you consider yourself an influencer?

Yes.

Are you social in real life?

Very.

What did you do with your time before?

Worked with clients as we were building the team.

How do you leverage your prominence or influence on social?

The quality of the people I network and mastermind with has gotten better and better.

Do you have someone helping you?

I have trusted advisers in the business but no direct help. I am bringing on a part-time marketing coordinator who will help.

Whom do you follow, and why?

People who are honest, trusted and cutting-edge — Tom Ferry, Gary Vaynerchuk, Sharran Srivatsaa, Spencer Rascoff, Jay Thompson, Grier Allen, Rivers Pearce, and too many others to name.

Where do you find the content that you put out?

It’s created based on what we think is relevant to the consumer.

What has been your all-time hit share?

I have no clue!
