Takeaways:

  • Re/Max is launching an app for the Apple Watch.
  • 3-D tours can be viewed via the app.
  • The Apple Watch will be used by roughly 15 million people in one year.

The number of Apple Watch users is projected to reach 15 million after its first year. Re/Max is counting on a number of those users being potential homebuyers.

The franchisor recently launched Re/Max Real Estate Search, a consumer app for the Apple Watch that offers location-based search capabilities with scrollable for-sale listing details and agent contact links.

“In the past, we created content for the Internet that could also be viewed on other devices. Now, with the tremendous growth of mobile users, we’re designing content primarily for smartphones and mobile devices that’s also compatible with the traditional Internet platform,” said Tim Drouillard, senior vice president of information technology at Re/Max.

The launch of this app adds to the brokerage’s collection of mobile applications that have previously been introduced on the iPad, the iPhone and Android smartphones.

The Re/Max Apple Watch app is one element of a comprehensive technology initiative being implemented by the brokerage. This initiative is designed to provide consumers with easy access to reliable real estate information and offer agents valuable tech tools in a competitive business environment.

The redesigning of remax.com, constructing an enhanced broker-agent intranet and delivering new responsive websites to Re/Max agents are other aspects of the initiative.

Last month, real estate company Terra Holdings launched an app for the Apple Watch focused on New York City listings. The app is said to alert buyers of new listings, open houses and property price drops with Facebook-style feeds. The app allows users to view 3-D and video tours of various properties via the watch.
