Apartment.com’s rental content will be extended to six leading websites, including realtor.com, according to a strategic partnership agreement jointly announced last week by Apartment.com’s owner, CoStar Group, and News Corp. subsidiary Move.

The companies said the agreement is expected to increase traffic across their rental websites to about 17 million unique monthly visits and is designed to enable more leads, faster responses and increased revenue opportunities.

Apartment.com’s rental content will also power Doorsteps.com, with advertiser content from and ApartmentFinder.com and Apartments.com — the latter of which will receive a $30-million renovation next month.

“Renters generally visit multiple websites in their search for an apartment, so it’s important to feature our advertisers’ communities across multiple websites with diverse character, personality and functionality,” said Andrew Florance, CoStar’s founder and CEO.

“In addition to having massive site traffic, we believe that realtor.com uniquely serves potential renters who aspire to purchase their dream home.”

Currently, Apartments.com boasts that it is the most heavily trafficked apartment rental website, with more listings than any other comparable website. Realtor.com’s homebuyer, seller and rental audience grew 43 percent in the first three quarters of this year.

Doorsteps.com and Move.com are also leading providers of online rental listings, homebuyer education and real estate professional tools.

“We’re excited to provide our users access to an unsurpassed selection of apartment listings and new, high quality content dedicated to our renter audience,” said Move CEO Ryan O’Hara in a statement. “We look forward to featuring this content in the coming weeks and delivering an even more valuable experience to renters looking for their next home on realtor.com.”

Apartments.com offers information on more than a half-million available units for rent. The website offers various tools to help renters refine their searches, including map searches, a “Polygon” tool to draw their own search area on a map and a “Plan Commute” feature that lets them search for rentals close to a specific address.

Move operates realtor.com, which has more than 3 million for-sale listings accounting for more than 97 percent of all properties listed for sale on multiple listing services.
