Welcome to the February 2016 Apartment List Rent Report for San Francisco.

With rents on the up-and-up, we took a look at California cities to see how they fare, and San Francisco continues to be the most expensive city in the state as well as across the nation.

San Francisco rent far exceeds other cities in state

San Francisco was the most expensive California city with average prices of $4,760 for a two-bedroom and $3,520 for a one-bedroom.

These prices even overshadowed rents in NYC ($4,500 for a two-bedroom and $3,380 for a one-bedroom) at a difference of $260 and $140 respectively. Those savings are enough to buy a beer after work every day!

San Francisco rent increasing slowly over last year

San Francisco experienced the ninth fastest year-over-year rent growth among California cities, at a 1.1 percent increase. This put The Golden Gate City at a much lower rent growth rate than other California cities such as Anaheim (9.2 percent), Los Angeles (6.7 percent), and Sacramento (3.1 percent).
