Don’t assume because you’ve been in the game for a while that you can’t brush up on your skills with a real estate class. In fact, seasoned Realtors have even more of a reason to further their education: tech trends are regularly changing, and the local market is forever shifting.

Ready to refresh your mind? Austin-area agents can select from numerous classes throughout August from the Austin Board of Realtors (ABoR).

Aug 8: How Appraisals Affect Your Transactions

It can be difficult to explain appraisals to clients, especially if they aren’t pleased with the outcome. This course for Austin Realtors teaches the basics of appraisals in order to best communicate the ins and outs to clients, whether buying or selling. The course also dives into accuracy, adjustments and property comparisons. The cost is $22 and counts for two continuing education (CE) credits.

Aug 15: Professional Standards for Realtors

Maintaining ethical standards as put forth by the board is vital to keeping your business safe and maintaining good rapport with other industry professionals and clients. This three-credit course goes over filing complaints, preventing litigation and infractions. The cost is $33.

Aug 22: Mid-Year Market Update

This free course overviews various components of the current market, including mortgage market trends, forecasts, guidelines, lending requirements, interest rates and loan programs. Attending this session does not count for CE credits.

Aug 25: The Essentials of Residential Leasing

Taking a closer look and the details of leasing will expand your business beyond helping clients buy and sell. For Austin Realtors interested in becoming property managers or leasing agents, this $40 course with three CE credits covers TAR residential leases, local rents, communication best practices and property management legal duties.

August 26: The TAR Residential Lease Agreement

On August 26, new and seasoned agents can learn TAR’s Residential Lease Agreement must-dos over a three-hour period. The cost is $40 and counts for three CE credits. This course is promoted by the Austin Young Real Estate Professionals (AYREP).
