3 tweaks that’ll boost your brand in a saturated market

As a real estate agent, you must distinguish yourself from others and show prospects exactly why they should choose you over another agent. This can be a challenge, but it’s not definitely not impossible. As a social media strategist and marketer, I’ve been able to distinguish myself as an online expert even though there are many others with my job title.

I’ve done this by capitalizing on — and tweaking — three things: my job title, my services and my influence. Here’s how you can do the same.

1. Job title

Instead of taking on the same exact job title as other real estate agents, you can distinguish yourself by including your real estate designation in your job title.

For example, rather than simply introducing yourself as a Realtor, you can introduce yourself as, “Realtor, certified relocation professional.”

2. Service offerings

You might think you simply provide real estate services like every other agent does. However, you may find a common pattern among the clients or properties you are working with. This means that when you are discussing your services, you can mention such patterns.

For example, you can mention how you focus on a specific geographical area. You can mention how you’ve helped a lot of people get in to condos or purchase their second home for rental income.

These seemingly minor details give people a better idea of the work you do, and they help you stay top of mind when it comes to either referring you or using your services. I’ve distinguished my services in a saturated market place by specifying how I work with the real estate community. This helps people remember to refer me to a Realtor they know.

3. Influence

The most fun way to distinguish yourself in a saturated market place is by building influence, thus making your services stand out.

You can build influence authentically and from the heart in a number of ways, like having a stellar online presence, writing articles and holding seminars offering real estate advice. Also, by collaborating and being a resource to others in your industry (yes, competitors) and to power partners (those who provide noncompeting services to your target market). I give presentations, providing the real estate community with social media advice, and a byproduct of that is people see me as a subject matter expert and trusted resource.

How have you successfully distinguished yourself from others in the business? We’d love for you to share in the comments below.
