When Bryan Guentner was still a real estate agent, he was one of the first in his market to explore the internet in the 1990s. Now, his brokerage, RE/MAX Platinum Living, has found another way into consumers’ homes, through Platinum Agent, a new Alexa skill it developed in house.

Through Platinum Agent, a consumer can be connected to one of the brokerages top agents through a simple voice command. The agent recommendations are based on in-house performance and reviews on Zillow.

“We’ve always embraced technology to help our agents and their customers,” Guentner told Inman. “This is another way that people are starting to use things and I wanted to be involved.”

“I’ve always held technology in high regard and utilized it to further our business,” Guentner added.

Consumers can also get tips on buying homes, or how to position their property in the best position to sell.

Having the Alexa skill also enhances the value proposition for the 80 agents in RE/MAX Platinum Realty’s five offices.

“It was a way that I felt we could be ahead of the curve, give our agents something to talk about in listing presentations,” Guentner said.

Platinum Agent is similar to My Home Agent, an Alexa skill that isn’t affiliated with a single brokerage. The lead generation tool, launched by tech startup HomeyPoints, automatically connects consumers through to the device to the phone number of an agent in their ZIP code that advertises through HomeyPoints’ network.

Consumers can download Alexa skills through their Alexa app for their Echo or other Alexa-supported devices.
