We asked you to tell us about your best day ever in real estate. That kind of day when it seemed that the planets aligned to give you everything you wanted. Maybe you made the deal of a lifetime. Maybe you landed a whale of a listing. Maybe it was the day you got your license (or your first million in the bank). Check out the stories you shared.

(Stories have been edited for length and clarity.)

  • My best day ever may have been when we had an accepted offer for three sisters, a mother and two nieces. They were very thin on down payment, using an FHA loan and constantly being beaten out. These six ladies had never owned a home but finally, finally we had an accepted offer and they were over-the-moon happy. I asked them, “Will this purchase save you money each month?” and they answered “Yes.” “Is this home purchase nicer than your current rental?” “Yes! and even larger.” I would say that is the very best kind of win a Realtor could hope for.
  • Best day ever — My buyer clients fell in love (she cried on the porch before I opened the door) with a home we viewed in their desired neighborhood that was already under contract. I kept bugging the listing agent for updates to make sure the deal was moving forward. Every home we viewed after did not quite cut it like “that one.” We did find a suitable replacement and won the contract. Fifteen days in, after home inspection, my client called me and said it isn’t the right one. She was very sorry and they understood they would lose their EMD. While I was on the phone with her the listing agent of “the one” called and left a voicemail: They were supposed to close the next day with their current buyer, however, there was a last-minute hiccup and that buyer could not get clear to close. Did I still want the house? Heck yes! We closed in 21 days, and they are happily living in The One.
  • My best day in real estate occurred when in 2019 I was awarded the National Association Of Realtors Good Neighbor Award for their 20th anniversary. The positive exposure resulted in over $58,000 that year donated to the work of South Suburban Pads, furthering the daily work of ending homelessness. I serve as an emergency shelter site manager, having served since 2005 in my volunteer time (which is now almost daily), coordinating food teams to provide meals and creating budgets with our guests who are living in a motel setting while waiting to be transitioned into permanent housing.
  • Probably my most memorable day was when the widow of a very sweet seller of mine called me to say that Hayden was sure to include me in his estate and specify that I would be the agent to sell their property. He was a really lovely person and a super fan, and it was really touching that he thought of me.
  • My very first buyer customer was ecstatic that we were able to get her approved and find a dream home in a tough market. Because she was a hero, she had minimal closing costs. She still loves her home three years later. These are the relationships we cherish to be able to truly make a difference in someone’s life.
  • After our unmarried buyers signed closing documents at the attorney’s office, our buyer got out of his chair and surprised everyone in the room by proposing to his girlfriend in front of everyone in the room. It was extremely touching, and we felt honored that we were a part of this extra big day.
