As with all new technologies, artificial intelligence has its cheerleaders and naysayers. Some folks think it’s the gateway to a new world of prosperity and labor-saving while others view it with suspicion. They’re concerned about the jobs that will be lost and the sci-fi implications of a tech that could be getting too smart too fast.
That’s why we wanted to know what side of the equation you’re on: Why do you (or don’t you) trust AI? How have you started implementing it into your personal or professional life? Do you believe that it will free you up to do what you do best — or worry that it will replace you altogether? Here are your thoughts, edited for clarity and accuracy:
- My problem with AI at the moment is the plethora of individuals shilling “expertise” on something that is moving quickly, and possibly advising lazy seeking silver bullet people in a way that is ultimately likely to be more detrimental than beneficial. I think there is great potential if used judiciously in ways that will benefit professionals and consumers, but at the moment it seems like a slippery slope of snake oil into quicksand.
- Cloning of people’s images so that you can’t tell if it is authentic or not.
- Change is new. Like it or not, we must adapt. I imagine that when email came around, or social media, there was a similar fear. And, I’d imagine that some people were early adopters and embraced it, and others resisted until it felt like the new normal. If we are unwilling to advance and change with the market space, then we will be left behind.
- I see its pros and cons. It’s still a relatively new technology and there are bugs. Agents have to look out for ethics and fair housing violations. We can’t put this on autopilot yet, maybe not for the foreseeable future.
