Zillow to open new office in Nebraska

Zillow announced that it is opening a new office in Lincoln, Neb., on Sept. 12 to expand its mortgage software division led by Lincoln-based Mortech Inc., which it acquired last year for $12 million in cash and 150,000 shares of its stock.

The new 7,200-square-foot office space, which is less than a block from Mortech’s existing office, will house more than 40 employees when it opens in a couple of weeks with room to grow as Zillow looks to add software engineers, system administrators and more.

“Mortech, and its employees, are an essential part of Zillow, and we’re thrilled to open this new office, which will give them the space and infrastructure they need to continue to successfully grow our mortgage business,” said Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff in a statement.

Zillow says it will continue to use Mortech’s existing office.

“As our team continues to expand and grow, it has become increasingly more important to have state-of-the-art facilities to assist in our developing business and operations,” said Don Kracl, vice president of mortgage tools for Zillow.

Zillow, which currently has 685 employees and is headquartered in Seattle, opened a rentals-focused office in San Francisco earlier this year and has other offices in New York City, Chicago and Irvine, Calif.
