Another popular real estate book gains top rating as Amazon e-book

“Zillow Talk,” the 288-page compendium of consumer-focused real estate analysis, trends and stats from the CEO and chief economist of the nation’s most popular portal, climbed to No. 4 on a subcategory of the New York Times Best Seller list in February.

But it’s not the only book by notable real estate entrepreneurs with some heat.

Chris Smith

“Peoplework,” a 192-page, self-published book for professionals on how to run a relationship-focused business from dotloop CEO Austin Allison and co-founder of real estate tech startup Curaytor Chris Smith that came out in January 2014, is the top-rated e-book in the “Business & Investing” category on Amazon.com.

“Zillow Talk” is currently No. 7 on Amazon’s hard-copy list of books in the “buying and selling homes” category under Business & Money, and No. 9 in the real estate investing subcategory.

Smith said that he and Allison raised over $73,000 from their 2013 Kickstarter campaign to help them publish their book, which has sold more than 15,000 copies.

Based on the success of their self-published endeavor, Smith told Inman that he and Allison are shopping it, or another real estate-centric spinoff, through an agent to big publishers who are showing interest.

Smith’s also pitching a book centered on lead generation that he will write himself titled “Capture. Convert. Close.”
