Whether you’ve been in the real estate business for five years or five minutes, there’s no shortage of advice being given to you — from your broker, your family, your friends and every real estate widget seller out there.

But is any of it true? We uncover the 10 biggest lies in real estate being told to new (and experienced) real estate agents and the information you need to know to be truly successful for the long haul. On today’s show, we cover the first four lies.

  1. Lie: You have to be passionate to be successful. Truth: Be passionate about what real estate can do for your family.
  2. Lie: You can’t be a successful listing agent from day one. Truth: You can be successful from day one — if you have a plan.
  3. Lie: You have to buy leads. Truth: Learn to fish, so you don’t have to pay for other people’s fish.
  4. Lie: Selling real estate will make you rich. Truth: Wealth is built from what you do with your real estate commission, not the commission on its own.

Do these lies sound familiar? How long have you believed them? We’re just scratching the surface! Listen to the podcast to have your beliefs challenged. And maybe you’ll have some breakthroughs that will set you up for your best year ever.

In part 2 of this series, we’ll talk about the lies surrounding teams, personalities, part-time agents and more.
