Resort-like Houston estate set for auction July 30

The Woodlands, north of Houston, is no stranger to luxury properties. Miami-based Platinum Luxury Auctions set a record resale with DanMar Manor earlier this year, and now the leading auction house is looking to unload another Houston estate called Suburban Sanctuary.

Previously listed at $12.9 million, the well-appointed mansion is set for auction on July 30 to the highest bidder at or above the $5 million reserve price. The owner and listing agent, Theresa Roemer, is represented by Beth Wolff Realtors of Houston as the brokerage of record for the sale.

The property was built in 2005, but Roemer began renovations in 2013 that were completed the following year. Due to the Houston market slowdown, Roemer and her husband decided an alternative route was best to draw in offers.

“The Roemers and their architect did an excellent job in creating a luxurious living space that is grand but also comfortable and functional,” David Ashcroft of Platinum Luxury Auctions said in a statement. “It’s really a very practical home for today’s luxury homebuyer who has a large family and/or who likes to entertain.”

Houston estate designed to dazzle

Today, the sprawling abode features a three-story, 3,300 square foot closet with vanity and champagne bar that landed a feature on “Good Morning America.”

To cope with the Texas heat, the couple designed a grand outdoor oasis inspired by Wynn Resorts, specifically the brand’s Las Vegas hotel.

Spanning two-acres, outdoor amenities include a backyard with golf course views, pool and spa, fire pit, outdoor living room, cabana bath, kitchen and waterfall wall.

The front entry opens up to a modern two-story foyer. Inside, there are nine bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms and three half-baths across over 17,000 interior square feet.

Aside from the lavish closet, other unique touches include two primary main level kitchens. One is intended for daily cooking, while another is designated as a catering kitchen — perfect for entertaining large parties of 100 guests or more.

Prior to the auction, previews require an appointment via Platinum Luxury Auctions set daily between 12 to 4 p.m. The property has its own page on the Platinum Luxury Auctions website for further specifics, including a document portal with disclosures, site plans and a bidder’s brochure.
