Compass is adding a top-producing regional agent to the ranks of its newly-opened Seattle office: Mark von der Burg and his team, most recently of Coldwell Banker Western Region, are now coming over to the New York-based high-tech brokerage.

Von der Burg has been Coldwell Banker Bain’s no. 1 agent in Washington for a number of years, and VDB Luxury Group is also ranked in the nation’s top 50 real estate teams, according to a Compass press statement. The team had a sales volume of $129 million in 2017. Von der Burg and team, six agents in all, will serve the greater Seattle and Eastside markets.

“Mark has created a culture of innovation with his VDB Luxury Group team that has kept them at the leading edge of client services and solidified his position as one of the top agents in the region. Their entrepreneurial culture strongly aligns with our goals, and we are excited to have Mark join Compass to help those in the Seattle area find their place in the world,” said Compass CEO Robert Reffkin in a press statement today.

Compass has just hired 14 full-time employees for offices in both Seattle and Bellevue and is planning a 30,000-square-foot office space in Seattle with more staff, including marketers, designers and administrators to come.

The NYC-based company announced last week that it had acquired a brokerage in Seattle, Northwest Group Real Estate (NWG) and its 25 agents led by president and founder Nick Glant.

Reffkin described Seattle as a natural fit for Compass with its “booming real estate market” and its reputation as a hub to many of the world’s best technology companies.
