Housefax, a popular industry resource for home data and property reports founded in 2012, has been acquired by National HouseCheck, a property inspection and home reporting service, according to a press release sent to Inman.

Financial details of the purchase were not disclosed.

The companies have a clear overlap in what they provide customers, and now Housefax data on more than 110 million American homes will become native to the array of inspection products and warranty services offered by National HouseCheck.

In a press release announcing the sale, Housefax CEO and Founder Eddy Lang said he’s looking forward to his company’s place within the National HouseCheck family of products.

“Both firms were founded to create more transparency for a better consumer experience, helping them make the most informed decisions,” Lang said. “It’s a natural fit that will only serve to enhance the buyer/seller and homeowner experience.”

In addition to traditional home escrow inspections, National HouseCheck offers a range of related services, including inspections for buyers (investors), HOAs, builders and owners after natural disasters.

The company also offers home warranties and home warranty expiration inspections, used by owners when considering not renewing their plan.

A new plan announced last year, National HouseCheck Certified Pre-Owner Homes, helps real estate agents offer a home that is “certified” to be free of mechanical surprises or glaring repair needs.

In essence, the service allows a seller to have an inspection before hitting the market, make changes and then advertise that the home is “certified” move-in ready with a 12-month warranty.

Housefax.com has no content on its site, only a single page announcement of the acquisition and statement about a pending new site.
