WATCH: Why technology can’t replace the human element of real estate

With all of the talk about new technology, are we forgetting about the human element that is so essential to each and every transaction? Are you worried that technology is taking the heart out of the real estate transaction?

At Inman Connect Las Vegas, Keith Robinson, the chief strategic officer of NextHome, Inc., talked about why concerns about tech taking over the industry are largely unfounded.

“Is the amount of fear that we have commiserate with the amount of threat? I don’t think so,” said Robinson, adding that while technology can aid in a transaction, it’s never going to replace the people. “Technology is not reviewing a 300-page inspection report,” he said. “It can’t give you a first-time homebuyer hug.”

He stressed that clients are “not consumers, they’re human beings buying and selling houses, and the more we remember that and the more we tell their story, that’s what resonates.”
