In 2006, Mark Choey began his real estate business from the San Francisco condo he shared with his wife and new baby. What started as a team became the independent Climb Real Estate in 2010, and Choey and his co-founder quickly grew to become one of the top-producing brokerages in San Francisco.

Along the way, they were early adopters of just about every type of online marketing tool, from social media to a chat function on their blog to being the first brokerage to test Matterport’s 3D visualization. That willingness to test and innovate nabbed Climb dozens of industry awards, and ultimately lead to NRT acquiring the company in 2016. And now, the brand is becoming a national franchise under the NRT umbrella.

Over the past 13 years, Choey learned a thing or two about what it takes to build and run a successful brokerage. Watch the full video above on Inman Select to learn Choey’s key takeaways.
