The Real Word: What can we glean from France’s real estate activity?

Byron Lazine and Nicole White are two agents in Connecticut who give us their thoughts on the week’s news every Friday in “The Real Word,” a weekly video column on Inman.

In France, where lockdown orders are starting to loosen up, real estate activity is slowly increasing. Laurent Demeure, founder and CEO of Coldwell Banker France and Monaco, noted that even though the country will likely see an adjustment period, he believes that interest will surge following France’s targeted re-opening date of May 11. Byron and Nicole discuss what information we can glean from Demeure’s predictions and how we can apply that to the U.S.

They also talk about how the pandemic is bringing out the bad side of some landlords, who are requesting sexual favors in lieu of pushing back rent payments. This is after a report was published on Buzzfeed based on numerous sexual harassment claims by female tenants.

Marketeer of the week

Pointing to a recent Inman Pulse survey, Byron and Nicole share the best piece of marketing advice to consider during a pandemic — calling people and asking them a simple question: “How are you?”
