And the latest listing portal to embrace 3-D is …

Sample exterior and interior visualizations created by Diakrit

ForRent.com is going all in with 3-D.

The rental website will roll out 3-D visualizations for about 2 million rental units on ForRent.com by the end of 2015, according to DIAKRIT, the company providing the visualizations.

The most immersive type of these representations will be DIAKRIT’s “InsideView” product. It mixes a 3-D floor plan with 360-degree panoramas, allowing a viewer to jump from room to room and spin around inside of them (try it out here).

InsideView is available only to premium advertisers on ForRent.com, but DIAKRIT says it’s already delivering about 1,000 of the visualizations a month into every market.

In August, DIAKRIT began providing 2-D and 3-D visualization tools to Advance Digital Inc., which includes AL.com, Cleveland.com, GulfLive.com, LehighValleyLive.com, MLive.com, MassLive.com, PennLive.com and SILive.com.

The company also generates floor plans for RentPath, the parent company of ApartmentGuide.com and Rent.com, allowing advertisers to show prospective renters the layouts of nearly 7 million housing units.

IProperty Group, which operates a network of Southeast Asian property portals, has integrated DIAKRIT’s “D-Showroom” into iProperty.com.

As part of ForRent.com’s partnership with DIAKRIT, every advertiser — not just premium advertisers — will have access to 2-D and 3-D customized floor plans.

ForRent.com advertisers can customize the 3-D floor plans by choosing from a variety of flooring, countertops and appliances using DIAKRIT’s 3-D Style Designer.

ForRent.com advertisers with the “Premier package” or higher will get the first six 3-D Floor Plans free of charge.

“Immersive and interactive 3-D visualizations offer the most robust search experience possible and help ForRent.com continue to deliver outstanding results for our advertisers,” said Terry Slattery, president of For Rent Media Solutions, in a statement. For Rent Media Solutions operates ForRent.com.

ForRent.com is just the latest listing portal to embrace 3-D.

Other real estate search sites that have integrated 3-D representations into their user experience include StreetEasy, which is displaying 3-D floor plans powered by Floored on some listings, and newhome.ch, which embeds interactive 3-D models generated by Archilogic on some listings.
