Motto Mortgage — a member of the Re/Max family of brands — is taking aim at the nation’s hunger problem, with its new initiative, “Mission Against Hunger.”

“Mission Against Hunger is about helping and feeding our neighbors,” said Ward Morrison, the president of Motto Mortgage. “It’s a distressing fact that, according to Hunger Free Colorado, more than one in seven Americans struggle with hunger, and one in six children worry about how they’ll get their next meal. And we want to help do something about it.”

The initiative will provide homebuyers getting a loan through the company with reusable bags to fill with non-perishables they would otherwise throw out during the moving process. The filled bags will then be delivered to local food banks, schools and other charitable organizations fighting hunger.

“Too much perfectly good food ends up in the landfill,” Morrison said. “And every bag filled is another opportunity for someone to have a good meal.”

“In addition to making bags available to new homeowners, Motto Mortgage brokerages will promote the effort, get people thinking differently about food they don’t want and even host food drives in their communities,” he added. “Mission Against Hunger starts with the donation bags, but it actually goes much further than that.”

Re/Max and former CEO Dave Liniger launched Motto Mortgage in 2o16 for real estate franchise brokers and loan originators as an effort to streamline the homebuying process for consumers. Motto reached 80 franchises sold in the first quarter of 2018.
