At this year’s Inman Connect San Francisco, architect John Cary discussed a topic he holds near and dear — “designing for the greater good.”

He believes design, when done well, instills dignity and a sense of belonging among those in the community. And when done poorly, it can have the very real effect of making us feel unseen and devalued.
