WATCH: Why the best founder is probably a woman

Did you know that 85 percent of consumer purchasing is driven by women? That’s $7 trillion. Women also dominate mobile usage, gaming, app store purchases and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and What’s App. And young women are usually successful early adopters.

Yet 91 percent of partners at venture capitalist firms are men, which means about 74 percent of VC firms don’t have a woman at their firms making investment decisions. Companies founded by women get about 2.2 percent of venture capitalist dollars. That number jumps up to about 15 percent when you add a male co-founder to the equation.

So why aren’t women founding more and getting more investments? Nisha Dua, partner with BBG Ventures, talks the Inman Connect New York audience through the many reasons women make amazing founders.
