Realtor.com gives facelift to mobile app

Nearby listings, property details, grocery stores and schools are all a tap or two away with the latest version of realtor.com‘s mobile search app.

The app has been redesigned to offer a simpler user interface, and it also throws a few new features into the mix.

Upon opening the app, users immediately see a map of their surroundings smattered with pins of nearby for-sale listings. Tapping a pin shows listing details on the bottom half of the screen, which can be pulled up to occupy the whole screen.

“Request a private showing” and “Ask a question” tabs invite users to contact listing agents on property pages.

Users can filter listings based on basic search criteria, including price and number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and further refine searches by manually drawing their target search zone.

They can also alter or enhance the app’s map view by activating 3-D or satellite map views, and add “points of interest” markers that show amenities such as restaurants, shops and banks.

Share buttons let users easily distribute their favorite properties via channels including text message, email, Facebook, WhatsApp, Pinterest and Instagram.

Realtor.com built the app by fusing features of the previous realtor.com search app with the popular interface and functionality of “realtor.com Express Home Search,” realtor.com operator Move said in a statement.

Unveiled late last year, Express was designed to offer a more efficient search experience than realtor.com’s primary search app.

“Simplifying our app experience gives buyers more on the go access to the most accurate listings database available in the industry,” said Tapan Bhat, chief product officer for realtor.com, in a statement.
