Last month, we published the special report “Is social media worth the time investment?” detailing how brokerages and agents have used social media to further their brands and businesses.

The report revealed the “haphazard” strategies real estate agents employ on social media, and how more than 35 percent of brokerages aren’t providing social media strategy support.

It’s a given that social media is an integral part to an agent’s success, so where can you find guidance outside of the walls of your office?

Katie Lance

That’s the gap Katie Lance, a well-known and respected real estate social media expert based in San Francisco Bay Area suburb Pleasanton, is aiming to fill with her #GetSocialSmart Academy that launches today with the backing of 11 industry companies including Adwerx, SmartZip, HomeKeepr, Lab Coat Agents — and Inman.

“The #GetSocialSmart Academy was created out of an enormous need in the industry for smart social media education at the agent and broker level,” Lance said in a press release.

“Top agents and brokers want to do better when it comes to social media, but so many don’t have the time, or don’t know where to start. The academy was created to solve this problem, and to bring social media education and training to more agents nationwide.”

Academy curriculum

The Academy is an online learning platform that houses a complete library of social media training tools. Participants will gain access to 40 videos, downloadable training materials and Lance’s signature six-week #GetSocialSmart coaching program. The videos and training materials will go over topics such as:

In addition to these features, Lance will be releasing live webinars and a private Facebook group for Academy members.

Costs and target audience

Agents can join the #GetSocialSmart Academy for $97 per month or $970 per year — a price Lance says is worth it for agents who are truly serious about grabbing their business by the horns through mastering the social media game.

“The type of agent [who would join the Academy is one] that wouldn’t miss a closing. You are the type of agent that always drops the keys off to your clients — because they are more than a transaction, and so much more than a “deal,'” Lance added in the announcement.

“They are a family who are about to create a lifetime of new memories in their new home and you understand this sacred space. Every home and every client of yours has a story.”
