Full-service vs. limited-service debate heats up Premium Content

By Glenn Roberts Jr., Friday, November 5, 2004.

ORLANDO, Fla.–There is some unsettled business between full-service brokerages and limited-service brokerages. The various sides don't always see things the same way, and getting all sides to cooperate in the traditional ways can be impossible or at least more complicated in some cases.  more...

By Inman News, Friday, November 5, 2004.

The chairman of the House Financial Services Committee has requested the federal government study the restrictions placed on Multiple Listing Services and their impact on home buyers.

In a Thursday letter, chairman Michael Oxley (R-Ohio) formally requested the General Accounting Office assess and report on four main areas: how the residential real estate transaction is evolving as a result of electronic commerce; any barriers to greater use of electronic commerce in resi  more...

Job gains hike real estate rates

By Lou Barnes, Friday, November 5, 2004.

When it comes to interest rates, it's the economy, stupid – not that other thing. Rates bumped up briefly on Wednesday (apparently in relief that we did not have a replay of the '00 non-decision), but are up for real today, looking as though they will stay up and are at immediate risk to go higher.

It could be worse: damage from early-morning word of 337,000 new jobs in October was limited because many jobs were temporary, or not tied to economic acceleration.  more...

Real estate auctioneers take TV show by storm

By Julie Brosterman, Friday, November 5, 2004.

Several months ago, I mentioned in this column that my husband and I had been called for a potential role in the Fox TV show, "The Complex." We were just on the verge of our own remodeling project, so the idea of packing up and moving (again) seemed completely unappealing although several of our nearest and dearest insisted that "we'd be perfect."

No sooner had I passed, did I come to find out that the show was to be set in Malibu. How's that for a blown opportunity? Eight weeks out at the beach.  more...
