Manage showings through the MLS
Real estate tech brief
By Inman News, Tuesday, November 4, 2008.More than 230,000 real estate agents in 17 states now have access to ShowingTime's ShowingAssist service, which helps users manage showings directly through the multiple listing service, the company said in announcing two new MLS clients.
ShowingAssist allows listing agents to post available hours for a showing and instructions on an interactive appointment calendar, allowing them to gauge buyer interest in advance. Agents can also carbon copy additional e-mail accounts or wireless devices to receive updates on showing activity while in the field.
With the additions of MLSs in northern Nevada and Ft. Wayne, Ind., ShowingAssist is now live in 37 MLSs and 73 Realtor associations, ShowingTime said. MarketLinx MLS, Fidelity MLS, Rapattoni MLS, Stratus MLS and FBS Data Systems have all incorporated ShowingAssist into their MLS systems for interested clients.

I think this feature is one of the best tools available to real estate agents today.
As a real estate broker who handles 30 listings or more at a time (mostly short sales,) this system has freed up my day.
When I first became a broker I took all my showing calls. Needless to say I spent the better part of my day answering the phone for showing instructions. I couldn't get anything done because of constant interruptions from the phone ringing.
Then I decided to outsource the showing calls. I paid a phone answering service to take the calls, screen them, and give them instructions. I almost went broke trying to pay this call service and they did a poor job.
Finally I realized that this feature was available and I thanked my lucky stars.
Now all showings are set up through the request showing button. I am no longer paying that call service $700-800 per month to take my calls and my phone doesn't ring nearly as much.
