Florida Realtors convert to TEMPO 5

MarketLinx touts smooth transition

Inman News®

Realtors in Pinellas County, Fla., have converted to MarketLinx Inc.'s TEMPO 5 multiple listing service (MLS) system, a process the vendor is touting as "a model of customer service."

The transition "was one of the smoothest I've experienced in more than 20 years," Jan Dean, director of information services for Suncoast MLS and the Pinellas Realtor Organization, said in a press release issued by MarketLinx.

Business reports are "amazingly fast" and listing maintenance is "extremely efficient," PRO's chairman of the board reports.

The transition to TEMPO 5 went less smoothly for members of the San Diego Association of Realtors (Sandicor) this summer, as broker-owner and Inman News columnist Kris Berg reported at the time.

"The new software is as intuitive as the Bush administration," Berg wrote in June. "For a profession where the barriers to entry include a number two pencil and an opposable thumb, we have a software system seemingly developed by a rabid badger holding a doctorate in quantum physics and a grudge."

Sandicor acknowledged that the upgrade -- which also included the addition of a "key fob" security measure, SafeMLS -- "presented some challenges." But association officials said they remained confident "that TEMPO 5 will provide yet again a valuable resource and data security to real estate professionals and consumers."

This time around, MarketLinx says it provided the Pinellas Realtor Organization's members with access to the company's AnswerLink call center, and conducted "dozens" of broker office visits to answer questions and provide on-site training in the weeks before the conversion.

"Everything MarketLinx did to accomplish the conversion should be duplicated and used as a standard for other MLS organizations," Dean said in a statement.

Sorry, I am NOT impressed at all. It is Soooooooo slow and it takes twice as many clicks than it used to take to get a result.
My buyers are unhappy too. If I send them 5 listings, only one shows up and they have to click at the bottom somewhere on the right hand corner to get to the next listing. So far everybody has missed this and now I have to write an explanation of how to use it an send it to my buyers. Also, searching and constantly scrolling is a pain.
The only deature I like is the map search.

I also feel that Tempo 5 runs very slow compared to Tempo 4. Our old hot sheet report was taken away and the new one is much more time consuming. I understand that the old report is coming back probably due to our requests. The history link is not like the old one, you cannot see the old MLS listing, it is not a link as before and I miss that. The pictures that come with a listing used to be under a media link in the buyer's report. Tempo 5 took that link away and our buyers, who were used to clicking on that link, must figure out that you have to click on the main picture to bring up additional pictures. There are not any instructions to tell them to do that. The quick CMA report always had a link for the pictures that came with the listings and the potential buyers and sellers could click on the link and see what the other properties that their listing is being compared to looked like. That has gone away. I am not sure why the pictures were taken away but I would like the pictures put back on that report.
I do like the print feature with Tempo 5. You are able to print both an agent report and buyer report at the same time. That is a very nice feature. I also like the fact that I can click on all my listings and also my office listings as well right from the home page.
I look forward to new technology but I always feel that it must be easier and better for our customers. As real estate professionals that is one of our goals - to supply information to our customers as quickly and efficiently as possible.
