William Raveis Real Estate Inc., the eighth-largest brokerage in the U.S., has announced plans to double the size of its headquarters in Shelton, Conn., where it has been since 1986.
The new space, which will be ready within the next two years and stands just half a mile from the current 22,000-square-foot headquarters building, will be 44,000 square feet, including 39,000 square feet of office space and a 5,000-square-foot interior garden. The new space will include a media room, a “world-class” information technology platform, and an employee gym.
It was important to the company to remain in Shelton, said William Raveis, the firm’s chairman and CEO, because it would keep current employees’ commute times down.
“William Raveis has had several groundbreaking years in a row,” Raveis said in a statement. “With annual real estate sales estimated at $7 billion in 2013 and a total mortgage volume of $9 billion, it was time to move into a space that can accommodate our expanding headquarters team. We’re investing in our future; this space will be home for the coming generations.”
