Joel Singer, longtime CEO of the California Association of Realtors, the largest Realtor association in the U.S. other than NAR, became involved in a public debate in 2013 with dotloop CEO Austin Allison about access to CAR’s electronic real estate forms. The debate shed light on issues of innovation, the role of an association and the framework of how deals get done in the real estate industry. Before becoming CEO of CAR in 1989, Singer served as the association’s chief economist, a position he assumed in 1978 when he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles.
