“If you’re building real estate software, now is the best of times,” wrote Brian Boero, the influential founding partner of real estate design and marketing firm 1000watt, in a year-ahead-themed blog post today.
With money flowing back into a stabilizing real estate market, the time is ripe for startups and innovators as multiple listing services, brokers and agents scramble to establish value in their businesses, Boero wrote.
He predicts 2014 will be a year of “competition and conflict” as brokers, rejuvenated by rising profits, seek to re-establish their clout with MLSs and agents, and the large real estate portals Zillow, Trulia and realtor.com continue to strive to differentiate themselves from each other.
