Overnight mortgage rates fall

30-year down at 5.37%; 10-year Treasury down at 4.18%

Long-term mortgage interest rates dropped Friday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield slipped to 4.18 percent. The 30-year fixed-rate average fell to 5.37 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate slipped to 4.78 percent. The 1-year adjustable was unchanged at 3.21 percent. The 30-year Treasury bond yield decreased to 4.97 percent. Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 23.97 points, or 0.23 percent, finishing at 10,313.07. The Nasdaq was up 24.66 points, or 1.32 percent, closing at 1,894.31.
