Overnight real estate rates ride higher

30-year fixed rate at 5.95%; 10-year Treasury yield at 4.77%

Long-term mortgage interest rates were up Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield edged up to 4.77 percent. The 30-year fixed-rate average increased to 5.95 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate rose to 5.64 percent. The 1-year adjustable soared to 4.87 percent. The 30-year Treasury bond yield was up at 4.76 percent. Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5. In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.32 points, or 0 percent, finishing at 11,076.02. The Nasdaq was up 4.99 points, or 0.22 percent, closing at 2,267.03.
