Overnight real estate rates post gains

30-year fixed rate at 5.85%; 10-year Treasury yield at 4.7%

Long-term mortgage interest rates edged up again Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield slipped to 4.7 percent. The 30-year fixed-rate average rose to 5.85 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate increased to 5.57 percent. The 1-year adjustable was up at 5.36 percent. The 30-year Treasury bond yield sank to 4.79 percent. Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5. In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 119.51 points, or 1 percent, finishing at 12,105.55. The Nasdaq was up 35.16 points, or 1.51 percent, closing at 2,365.95.
