Tom Geller is a freelance writer in San Francisco and author of "Save My Home: 10 Steps for Avoiding Foreclosure." Geller worked as a real estate agent before becoming a full-time freelancer and discusses the similarities in the two professions. Geller will speak during the Foreclosure Workshop at Real Estate Connect in San Francisco, July 23-25, 2008. He answered a set of questions posed by Inman News: What do you see happening in the real estate market in 2008? I believe values in the residential sector will continue to fall at the current rates throughout the year. In 2009, I believe one of two things will happen: If interest rates remain low, the market will stabilize and values will continue to fall, but at a slower rate. If interest rates increase substantially -- say, above 7 percent for a 30-year, conforming, amortized fixed-rate mortgage -- we'll see steeper drops.
