Real estate search site Trulia.com has added free features this week that allow agents and brokers to upload a photo and contact information for display with every property listing that they have at the Web site, and site users can gauge interest in individual properties by checking page-view statistics for those properties.

Also, the added features allow consumers seeking more information about a property listing to click on a "Contact Me" button to send an e-mail to an agent or broker from the Trulia site.

Trulia now allows agents and brokers to promote open-house events at the site. A broker-owned Web site, OpenHouse.com, also features open-house information that is supplied by Realogy-brand real estate companies and other companies that choose to use the platform, such as Prudential Real Estate Affiliates.

The "Stats for Sellers" feature is intended to help users gauge interest in homes displayed at the site and "could provide critical insight to sellers if there is a mismatch between the number of total views versus home buyer inquiries," according to the Trulia announcement.

Trulia reports that 93 of the top 100 largest real estate brokers in the country supply property listings to the company, and the site ranked 11th among real estate sites for total visits in April, according to metrics company Hitwise.

Open Houses are a waste of time and effort. Realtor.com's own statistics state about 9 out 0f 10 "Open Houses" are a failure. So Realtor.com publicizes this to their members and then adds it to their new website??
Only bring in RWA buyers,,,,,ready, willing, and able...(also pre-approved). You represent your seller's interest. Move ahead in the industry and not back.

Where is the new technology...where members can upload actual videos on a "real estate" website?

Our site already provides the ability to upload videos. Check us out at www.RealEstateOnTheInternet.Biz. Search on ID 11679 for an example.

That domain name is too long for the average customer to remember or lead to.

Ralph:

Great question about video. At NAR Mid-year few MLS sites, and Realtor sites give people the ability to upload the videos; most sites merely embed a link for your videos. It is something that needs to be addressed as it is clear that most in the industry are heading towards video profiles, tours, etc.

Absolute Interactive Marketing - Realtor SEO
Most internet users want a fast and easy-to-use interface that lets them see homes in their geo-targeted area and price range. I agree, video home tours are already old hat, but providing agents with the ability to brand their listings through Trulia is pretty cool, with lead capture on the site.

I used to work for Move, Inc, the 'managers' of Realtor.com, the only "licensed" website to provide a national MLS listing service. I can tell you they have done a terrible job of providing a valuable end-user experience for the web consumer, they have resisted integrating their listing info into the search engines for years - killing themselves in the process - all the while seriously overcharging the brokers and agents who wish to participate.

I am an SEO specialist - I make websites show up at the top of the engines, and all my clients dominate their local markets. NAR reports that +70% of every home search begins with a search engine, this is why zillow, trulia and the countless independents are killing the MLS and RDC.

Those are the issues - transparency and facilitation. Both of which RDC and the MLS's fail so miserably at. Then on top of it all - they are invisible, because most don't know how to optimize their sites to show up #1 in the Search Engines.

Content and usability are king - solve these two issues and anyone can compete. The MLS's have more content than any independents can provide - therefore all they have to do is structure their websites to be attractive and fast (think platforms like Joomla!) and with SEO, they can easily retake the market.
Hear that MLS's? The game is not over, and I can show you how.

Thanks!
