Inman News doubles down on content
Burslem and Roberts promoted
By Inman News, Thursday, June 5, 2008.Bookmarking Sites
Social media manager Joel Burslem has been promoted to vice president of content at Inman News and deputy editor Glenn Roberts Jr. has been promoted to managing editor.
Inman News also recently strengthened its editorial team with the addition of two new columnists, Kris Berg and Teresa Boardman, and will soon announce other new columnists.
Inman News will also be announcing new video and editorial content in the coming months.
"These promotions, new columnists and content represent our commitment to providing our readers with more opinion, perspective and new ways of viewing real estate information," said Inman News CEO Don Belanger. "We are recommitting ourselves to being the leading source of technology news for the real estate industry. In this market, our readers need the best business intelligence and perspective that is out there," he said.
These moves come as longtime editor Jessica Swesey is leaving Inman News to pursue a new opportunity.
"We are building on Jessica's work at Inman News and while we are sad to see her go, we wish her all the best in her new pursuits," said Belanger.
"It's been such a great journey leading the Inman News team. I'll miss the entire staff, and also the readers and sources that have made this job so much fun. The real estate industry is full of intelligent, colorful and interesting people whom I hope to keep in touch with in the future," said Swesey, who will continue as a consultant for Inman News.

Here I am reading about Joel and Glenn, thinking , "those are well deserved promotions" and then I get smacked upside the head that Jessica is leaving. :(
Congrats Joel and Glenn! (And Teresa and Kris)
And best of luck Jessica. I've got no doubt you'll be successful in whatever you pursue.

Happy and sad all at once. Jessica - Best of luck. I'm going to miss you here. Joel and Glenn - What I want to know is which one of you will be responsible for fixing my typos? I hope you negotiated hazard pay. :)

Congrats to all at Inman for the promotions and moving forward.
"new video"...C'mon 99% of realtors don't have video on their websites.
Realtor.com does not have video capability for ALL of their members on their mls systems. It's too hard and too much work to install for their members.
Congrats to Inman on being one of the few professionals and companies in real estate to evolve......ahead.

I met Jessica in 2002 when she joined Inman News. I have watched her grow as a writer and flourish as an editor.
Covering real estate on a daily basis is an arduous task - Jessica you catered to it with much class and dignity carrying the torch of professionalism that has long been the gold standard at Inman News.
As a contributing guest writer for Inman, I was privileged to work with you. Your guidance and editorial direction made each submission the best it could be. I will miss that collaboration for sure. Good luck on your new endeavor.
Congrats to Joel and Glenn - you guys both rock and are the perfect choices to step in and take over the reigns. Your promotion is the good news to this otherwise, bad news event. Actually, it's the great news!
To graceful endings and new beginnings.

Jessica! You better not run too far away and disappoint us, your fans! You have done an excellent job of making Inman News informative and entertaining twice a day for all of us here at the WAV Group.
Under your leadership, Joel and Glenn have grown and thrived. You leave Inman News in the hands of promising and already accomplished new leadership.

Damn that Marc Davidson can write! He's all eloquent, practically poetic, and all I can come up with is "smacked upside the head"...

Jessica was the first person I had contact with across the blogging-real world boundary. She is a total professional, funny on twitter and knows how to get down to business when she reports.
Joel and Glenn-Congrats! You guys are pretty sharp! Keep pushing the point for all the readers.
...and I don't know how much luckier Inman can get that to add BOTH TBoard and KBerg!
Best to all in their personal and professional endeavors.

Congrats to both Joel and Glenn! As someone who is a relatively new "daily reader" of InmanNews, I am excited about the future of the site. And best of luck to Jessica whose footprint is probably what had me hooked to this point!
