ColdwellBanker.com rejoins top-20 list
ForeclosureStore.com up, Apartments.com down in rankings
By Inman News, Tuesday, March 10, 2009.Coldwell Banker Real Estate's ColdwellBanker.com Web site rejoined a top-20 list of most-visited real estate sites in February, with ForeclosureStore.com moving up five places on the list and apartment listings site Apartments.com dropping five places compared to January.
Foreclosure.com moved up three places in the monthly rankings, produced by Web metrics company Hitwise.
Move Inc.'s Realtor.com was unchallenged in the top spot, with a 6.97 percent market share of all visits to real estate-related Web sites. The sites are ranked based on share of visits from a total Hitwise sample of 10 million U.S. Internet users.
Yahoo's realestate.yahoo.com site ranked second with a 4.38 percent share, followed by Zillow.com (3.1 percent), ZipRealty.com (2.53 percent), RE/MAX's remax.com (2.05 percent), Rent.com (1.89 percent), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's hud.gov (1.7 percent), HomeGain.com (1.66 percent), ServiceMagic.com (1.63 percent), and Trulia.com (1.5 percent).
Foreclosure-related site ForeclosureStore.com has risen from 96th in the rankings in November to 27th in December, 17th in January and 12th in February.
Apartments.com slipped from 11th in January to 16th in February, and ColdwellBanker.com moved up from 25th in January to 19th in February.
An estimated 27.4 percent of all visits to real estate-related sites went to the top-10 sites in that category, Hitwise reported, while 67.12 percent of all visits went to the top-100 sites. Visitors spent an average 12 minutes, seven seconds on real estate category Web sites in February, down slightly from 12 minutes, 14 seconds in January.
The sites ranked by Hitwise that joined the list of the top-100 real estate sites in February: movoto.foreclsosure.com (from 107th in January to 73rd in February), GSMLS.com (101st to 80th), FloridaMoves.com (110th to 86th), Bid4Assets.com (115th to 89th), Crye-Leike.com (108th to 91st), RealtyUSA.com (102nd to 94th), RentalAds.com (104th to 97th), and EstateSales.net (124th to 98th).
The Hitwise-ranked sites that left the top-100 list of real estate sites in February: MyDreamHomeMakeover.com (72nd in January to 150th in February), LivingChoices.com (79th to 115th), ApartmentFinder.com (84th to 110th), WyndhamVacationResorts.com (86th to 102nd), RealtyStore.com (87th to 139th), MRIS.com (88th to 107th), HarmonHomes.com (97th to 101st), and FrontDoor.com (100th to 108th).
During a four-week period ending Feb. 28, "Realtor.com" ranked as the most popular search term that sent traffic to a real estate category Web site. Among the other popular terms: "remax," "zillow," real estate," "zillow.com," "homes for sale," "realtor," "century 21," "remax.com homes for sale" and "coldwell banker."
Fast-moving Web sites, which Hitwise identifies as those with substantial increases in ranking for the four-month period ending in February, include vivante-fl.com (up 813 places to 1,437th), AlpineResortProperties.com (up 786 places to 1,954th), and NaplesArea.com (up 545 places to 752nd).
Other fast-moving sites include ReynoldsPlantation.com (up 452 places to 735th), Capreit.com (up 442 places to 1,137th), MatureLivingChoices.com (up 315 places to 831st), Atlantic Realty (up 226 places to 671st), FederalHousingTaxCredit.com (up 170 places to 143rd), HomeForExchange.com (up 145 places to 324th), and ForeclosureStore.com (up 84 places to 12th).

Other than the #1 spot these rankings provide data that sites are constantly moving up or down. It provides a great opportunity for agents to attract their own share of the consumer web traffic available.

It's interesting to note that a few of the top movers this month are from Florida; with floridamoves.com making its way to 86th and NaplesArea.com making a major lead of over 500 places. I have also heard that markets are starting to warm up all over Florida... So it isn't just foreclosures that are moving. It seems that the most sold off markets are starting to see buyers return.
