Kris Berg, broker-owner of San Diego Castles Realty in San Diego, Calif., and a weekly Inman News columnist, talks about taking the unexpected in stride in a video excerpt from her Vook, or multimedia book, titled, "Keeping it Real (estate): A Guide to Life, Happiness and the Pursuit of Property."

"You try to be a model of efficiency and do the very best you can but some days you just can't help it," Berg says on a day complicated by an appraisal and an unscheduled showing, which has her moving furniture and shopping for sage green bath towels at the last minute.

"You throw away all of the icing of the tech and the business systems, and ... it's really all about people -- connecting with people," Berg says.
