In the two months since email marketing company VerticalResponse acquired social media marketing technology provider Roost, the company has added new features to its marketing platform and rolled out a free mobile application.

This month, the company launched its first mobile app, compatible with Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. Users can schedule and post status updates or photos to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn directly from the app; view posts sent and scheduled; attach posts to a marketing campaign they've created; and review engagement analytics for individual posts, including how many times a post has been "liked," shared and commented on.

"Most small businesses aren't tied to a desk or computer 24 hours a day, but with social media you need accessibility around the clock," said Janine Popick, VerticalResponse CEO, in a statement.

"With the Roost by VerticalResponse mobile app, small businesses can create and oversee their social media marketing campaigns whenever and wherever it's convenient for them."

The company added integration with social network LinkedIn to its platform last month. It also added a quotes library, new content feeds that include posts from blogs and news sites, and several new email newsletter templates to its library of more than 700 free templates.

Great thinking on their part. Looks like a neat little app.
