Track who can afford to live where

NEW YORK -- We're pretty excited about Envisioning Development, a clickable map that tracks the median incomes for families of four in New York City's neighborhoods and what percentage of families can afford to rent one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in those neighborhoods.

Felix Salmon points out that those who turn to this map to pick their next neighborhood are most likely to end up in Brooklyn Heights/Fort Greene, where the income distribution is closest to even. But if you're more interested in getting the most mind-warping experience possible out of this thing, try clicking on the Upper East Side and then East Harlem, or Chelsea/Clinton/Midtown and then Stuyvesant Town/Turtle-Bay.
