Moroccan-style mansion for sale in Houston
House of the Week: from Curbed.com
By Curbed.com, Friday, July 1, 2011.
Location: Houston
Price: $8.9 million
The Skinny: After a tipster slipped us a link to this Moroccan mansion in Texas, we checked and rechecked the location. Surely, this convincing replica couldn't be planted in conservative Houston, but yes, it was -- all 20,000 square feet of it. In the inner courtyard, vistors wouldn't be blamed for thinking they were ensconced in a Marrakech manse, with tile detailing, fountains, and no view of neighboring McMansions. With eight bedrooms, eight baths, two guest houses, pool cabanas, and a petting zoo, this palace isn't without its extravagances. The owners brought in an authentic Moroccan architecture firm, Arabesque Moresque, to design the unique structure.

I dont' know if I agree with the perception that Houston is conservative, but if you know Houston you know how diverse it is. How many cities have an Orange House, an nationally recognized Art Car Parade, etc.?

By the way, Bob and Susie might just live here. They probably brought all of the furnishings with them from one of their jaunts. :)

I'm with Lilly, I wouldn't call Houston conservative. I think you're confusing Houston with Dallas, Glenn Beck's new home town. http://gawker.com/5187225/paranoid-faux-populist-glenn-beck-walls-himsel...

My god! This house is just amazing. Interior design is just perfect. And, it looks real classy. I wanted a house just like this with a traditional architecture, lots of bedrooms, halls, guest houses, home theaters, pools, gardens and with home security systems. Life would be fabulous if I was rich like that and owning that sort of house. Oh I'd love it
