A Canadian real estate agent who mailed out a real estate flier that mixed advice about maintaining air conditioners with his opinion that “traditional family is the best for the future of the kids” is the subject of a complaint to the Real Estate Council of Ontario. Re/Max Realty One agent Andrew Ciastek cited a study that supposedly found unemployment is three times higher among the offspring of homosexual couples. “On the inside is information on how to maintain your air conditioner, how to save money, what you should know about air conditioners, all things you need to know if you’re looking to purchase a home. The back (of the brochure) just seems so incongruous and offensive,” said Jon McDonald, a retired teacher who filed complaints with the Real Estate Council of Ontario, Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Peel Regional Police Diversity Unit. Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic Canada, which also received complaints about the flier, has issued an apology, saying Ciastek did not mean to offend anybody and will issue a public apology and make a donation to a local charity.
