Home improvement retail giant Home Depot has added for-sale-by-owner marketing kits for home sellers to its product offerings at stores throughout the East Coast. The company has partnered with Owners.com, a provider of online for-sale-by-owner real estate services.
The new FSBO product is a complete marketing kit that includes Internet advertising with photos and property information, an answering service and personalized yard-sign banners. Each kit costs $12.95.
Owners.com FSBO kits currently are available in Home Depot stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
“Combined with a yard sign, the Owners.com services help sellers generate qualified leads by providing potential buyers with convenient access to property details by Web or phone and a voicemail feature that allows property owners to better manage their communication with interested buyers,” Owners.com CEO Steve Udelson said.
Launched in 1996, Owners.com provides services, consumer tools, products and educational content for buying and selling real estate.
Owners.com estimates that about 20 percent of existing-home sales each year are sold by-owner, without the use of a real estate broker or agent. These sellers realize an average savings of about $10,000 in commission costs.
