Ever wanted to live in a neighborhood of shipping containers? Live The Box, a New Jersey-centric design competition to create neighborhoods out of shipping containers, set out to answer your dreams. Competitions for designing houses out of the big metal boxes have come and gone, as befitting their status as the ultimate industrial house fetish of the aughts. This is to say nothing of the architectural practices that have been defined by them. But until now no design-offs have explored building whole neighborhoods of affordable housing out of them.
